Why diversity sourcing might not be working for your organisation?






Extending talent pools for candidates from diverse backgrounds is a top-of-mind priority for most organisations in 2023.

While I think of diversity sourcing as a responsibility of every recruiter, it's dangerously easy to fall into one of its pitfalls:

❌ lack of sourcing strategy

❌ superficial hiring manager's buy-in

❌ hiring for diversity, while not offering an inclusive workplace

❌ tokenism- using diversity sourcing as a check-box exercise

❌ lack of accessibility and inclusivity throughout the interview process

❌ focusing only on gender or race, while we should think more holistically about the market and talent pools

The list can go on and on, but these are a few problems sourcers and recruiters are facing the most often in their strive to do things differently.

Intentional diversity sourcing, often undervalued, sits at the bottom of the change of the people talent landscape.

It takes a village to make it work.
